DIGITAL CONTENT SERVICES

We commenced provision of our Digital Content Services in August 2012 in Malaysia and started our operations in Indonesia in June 2015 respectively and have incorporated our subsidiary, EV Cambodia in February 2018.

Our Digital Content Services in Malaysia have 30 video channels in 10 languages namely, English, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Tamil, Japanese, Korean and Thai; on our three platforms. Our 30 video channels covers 12 interest areas comprising lifestyle, celebrities and models, music, comedy, entertainment, drama and movies, paranormal, sports, fashion and beauty, education and knowledge, automotive and technology, and religion.

Our Group’s current focus in the Malaysia and Indonesia markets is to provide digital video content to subscribers in their native language for daily viewing at an affordable price.

We have master content provider agreements or arrangements with Telcos in Malaysia and Indonesia respectively whereby we deliver digital content to subscribers and connect our platforms to the Telcos’ billing gateways. Our digital content is delivered to and accessed by subscribers on their mobile devices by charging a subscription fee.


We aggregate and procure our digital content through obtaining the right to use content from our established network of content providers or acquiring free-to-use content. Our platforms were created to be intuitive, convenient and interactive, to deliver a compelling entertainment experience to subscribers.

Our digital video content is typically no longer than six minutes each to cater to individuals who prefer to watch several snippets of video entertainment in short periods of time.


We believe that content is the key in attracting subscribers and we work extensively with our content providers to obtain compelling content. We procure our digital video content by obtaining licenses to aggregate and distribute or acquiring it from our diverse network of content providers, which ensures that the content utilised for our Digital Content Services remains varied, interesting and updated.

Our content providers provide us with digital content either monthly, quarterly, on demand, or through a one-off purchase. The content we acquire or licence consists of licensed premium content, locally produced content, viral clips, UGC, connecting subscribers to other video sharing platforms or various digital video content aggregated and edited by us.

We have an experienced team that manages the curation of our digital video content. Typically, our digital video content team searches for content will compile the selected content to be edited or encoded. A final check of the content is then conducted and the content is approved for publishing on our platform. Once approved, the content will be uploaded according to our content scheduling. To ensure variety and diversity in the content we provide, our platforms are refreshed every week with new content.

OUR SUBSCRIBERS

Since commencement of our operations, our Digital Content Services reached approximately 3 million subscribers in Malaysia, and approximately 0.5 million subscribers in Indonesia. According to the Frost & Sullivan Report, our market share, in terms of subscription fee income before taking into account the channel distribution costs to Telcos in accordance with the amounts set out in our master content provider agreements or arrangements with the Telcos, in the mobile digital media VAS industry in Malaysia was 2.9%.
